At Hallam Family Dentistry, we understand the importance of protecting your natural teeth while maintaining their natural appearance. That’s why we offer ceramic dental crowns to help you restore your smile to its optimal state.
If you have a tooth or teeth that are heavily filled, broken down, in a weakened state or even just unsightly, ceramic crowns may be recommended for you. A crown is a dental restoration that covers the entire tooth structure, protecting the remaining tooth structure and restoring its strength and function.
During your appointment, upon checking your dentist at Hallam Family Dentistry might recommend getting a dental crown. Below are some common reasons why you might need a dental crown:
The process of getting a dental crown is a common and often painless procedure. If you have any anxiety about the process, Dr William Phan will patiently and compassionately explain the process in greater detail during your appointment.
The dental crown procedure is seamless, simple, and virtually pain-free, usually taking place over two visits. During your first visit, a consultation is required to navigate the proceedings of your treatment. Dr Phan will get to know you and the work that needs to be done. Once it is determined whether you need a dental crown, the procedure can commence. Your dentist will prepare the tooth by removing any decayed or damaged tooth structure. An impression of the tooth is then taken to create a custom-made crown that fits perfectly over your natural tooth structure. A temporary crown is then placed to protect your tooth while your permanent crown is being fabricated.
At your second appointment, your temporary crown is removed and your custom-made ceramic crown is carefully placed and secured over your natural tooth structure, restoring its strength and function. The result is a beautiful and natural-looking tooth that blends seamlessly with your existing teeth.
